Jesus - The Word

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made. Without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it….The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth….No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father’s side, has made him known."        John 1:1-5, 14, 18.

Jesus said: “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God’.”      Matt. 4:4 (Deut. 8:3)

Jesus said: “Heaven and Earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”     Matt. 24:35

Jesus said: “The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.”     John 6:63

Jesus said: “Whoever hears my word and believes in him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.”     John 5:54

The importance of Jesus being the Word of God cannot be over-emphasized as it was Jesus’ mission to testify about his Heavenly Father. He did this primarily by conveying knowledge concerning God to all who would listen, and he did it by his display and mannerisms of being friendly and concerned about people. Jesus is the Great Communicator, the Teacher, sent from Heaven as God’s representative. There were those who understood what he was all about, but there were many who totally rejected him as a person who made outrageous claims about God and himself. Jesus claimed to be present at Creation, that the words he spoke were eternal in nature, that those who believe his words will have life. He only asks to be given the opportunity to present that evidence, and then allow everyone the option to accept it or reject it.
