Echoes of Lucifer, the Morning Star

Isaiah 14:12-14

How art thou fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!

How art thou cut down to the ground,
which didst weaken the nations!
For thou hast said in thine heart,

I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:

I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation,
in the sides of the north:

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;
I will be like the most High.

                                                                                         King James Version

Isaiah 14:12-14

How you have fallen from heaven,
O morning star, son of the Dawn!

You have been cast down to the earth,
you who once laid low the nations!
You said in your heart,

I will ascend to heaven;
I will raise my throne above the stars of God;

I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,
on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain.

I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High.”

                                                                                         New International Version

What’s the Difference?
Many are the religious people today found in a smorgasbord of Christian churches who can recite to others their special spiritual condition.  They know in their hearts and they proudly announce that “I’ve been saved, I’ve been born again, I know that when I die I’m going to heaven,” and by doing so, they lay claim to the heavenly streets of gold.  Their belief about themselves is solidified because many of their friends, relatives, and acquaintances have the same assurance about themselves too.  Being able to know and read their own hearts is not a problem with them,… but it is a problem with God, because God claims that it is he alone who can accurately read and know every individual heart.

Look out!
Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.
                                                                                         Proverbs 16:18      NIV

While claiming to have the same knowledge as God himself may have a calm quieting effect on individuals, it surpasses the ability of every created being on this planet.  All of the “I will’s…” quoted above from the prophet Isaiah demonstrate how much the rebel angel Lucifer thought of himself and what he thought he was capable of accomplishing all by himself.  When this lofty position of pride and arrogance is thought to have been attained by created beings as well, realize then it is but a short step to become like Lucifer who became Satan the devil, and likewise want to possess creative powers like God, and to even take God’s place on the throne of the Universe.  Sadly, Lucifer’s pride and self-confidant attitude caused him to be ejected from heaven.

The End Result  (Isaiah 14:15)

Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.        KJV

But you are brought down to the grave, to the depths of the pit.       NIV

The Testimony of Jesus:  (NIV).

Jesus said: “If I testify about myself, my testimony is not valid.”   John 5:31

Jesus said: “He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself.”  John 7:18

Jesus said: “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows
                  your hearts.”
              Luke 16:15

Instead of believing and trusting in one’s personal claims about self, Jesus said:

“Have faith in God.”
                                                                      Mark 11:22
